Constansia Uitsig

Cape Town, 16th Sept - 19th Sept

From Stellenbosch we travelled to the other side of Cape Town, to a region called Constantia. This is another wine region a little nearer the Cape Town action. Here we stayed on a working wine farm in a cosy little cottage complete with log fire, to Jamies delight! Over the next 3 days we met a fairly wide selection of interesting characters and developed our David Attenborough style animal observation techniques.

When we arrived in the cottage in Constansia, they had left us a bottle of champagne and scattered rose petals on our bed! Very romantic!

We took a trip down to the Cape of Good Hope....

First stop, Boulders Bay to see the Penguin colony.

Next animal spotted....the Dassie, found at the Cape of Good Hope and also on Table Mountain.
They are very friendly, this one came right up to us!

We also visited Scarborough (yes, this is really called Scarborough, but this is the sunny South African version)

We made friends with some of the locals who introduced us to the friendly neighbourhood Sealions.
Jamie chose to feed the Sealion with fish from his MOUTH!! (this is apparently how the locals do it?!)

Tory, chose the more normal route of hand feeding.

The next day we did our SHARK CAGE DIVE at Hermanus, down the coast from Cape Town.

This is how Jamie looked for most of the trip....

We did, however, both complete the cage dive and saw five 3 meter long Great White Sharks....and are still alive to tell the story.
